Busy Week

Well, it's actually been a busy couple weeks, but here's a basic run down of everything that's going on.

1. EconomyGuy.com has an upcoming tele-seminar this Wednesday evening which I've been preparing for. We've actually sold a couple mp3/cd sets of the yet to be recorded event. It's our first revenue for this site so I'm very encouraged. We initially we at about 70 subscribers right around Christmas and it seems to be organically growing at the pace of 1 person per day. I know, not much. But we weren't doing ANY marketing. Finally, this week I got around to promoting a giveaway. We going to give a free subscription to Economist magazine. The drawing will be held April 30th. All newsletters subscribers will be eligible....etc. etc. So far it's worked ok. I've added about 80 subscribers in the last few days so we've just about doubled. We really need to get our list to about 1000 members I believe, before we can really start testing other ways we can monetize the site. However, I think we will always keep the newsletter free.

2. Been working on a Clickbank product. My friend gave me some digital products and I created a sales page/delivery page last week and have just been driving traffic to it the last few days so see if I could get any conversions. The good news is I did get one sale on about 150 unique visitors which isn't terrible, but not that great either. It's actually pretty good when you consider it's my first attempt at putting something like this together. I'm going to redesign the whole thing and possible rename the product itself, but you can still see the experimental site for a short time here. Increased cash flow. By the way, if you sign up with clickbank (it's free) and you get your own link and make a sale, you get 50% as a commission.

3. I finally got around to monetizing my sweepstakes site. I didn't really do much, except throw in some affiliate links to other sweepstakes/prize sites that pay on a free registration. These are in the Welcome email that people receive after they register for my giveaways. Last night I had 4 people register and one played the other games which put $2 in my pocket. Not bad for complete autopilot but I suspect that it will get much more fun when the numbers get higher. Some days I have upwards of 50 people register, but I didn't have this offer set up yet.

4. Been working on other affiliate things that I'm still testing out. Hopefully more to report later.

So that's it. Hope everyone has a great week!

Rambo In The News

In case you don't remember my earlier post on Rambo I was surprised to see this review today in the Washington Post.

I still think Weird Al was better.

Holy Crap....

No, not the biggest emergency Fed rate cut in 23 years although that does deserve holy crap status.

No, not that actor guy who killed himself today...

but this.

I guess it was just a matter of time.

Burning Questions

This video answers some questions I was wondering about. Like are gravitational waves real?

Drumroll Please......A New Post

Thanks to Mike's encouragement last night at our weekly group meeting I've decided to come out with a brand spanking new never-been-read hot off the press still in it's packaging blog post. Why? Because "I'm sick of looking at the stupid Ohio State post" comments need to be acknowledged. This whole blogging business is all about customer service. It's about connecting with your readers and offering not just entertainment but a real dialogue.

After all, life is all about customer service...

Go Buckeyes!

I really hope they put that debacle of a game from last year's championship behind them.

Note for the creepy crawly search engine spiders. Check out a wonderful page of online music lessons here.

Happy New Year!

Sitting here late at night watching Conan O'Brien with a full beard. Evidently he's not shaving until the writers' strike is over....I'm doing the same. Well, that's not true. I just have a zit on my upper lip and I'm waiting until it goes away until I shave. TMI? Sorry.

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy and successful 2008. Especially if you're a nerd.
