It's nice to be home again. (I feel like I keep saying that.) Had a great lunch with my cousin yesterday in New Richmond, Ohio down at his restaurant. I had planned on driving back to C-Town afterwards but I wanted to mix up the route a little bit so I took US-52 all along the Ohio River through a couple old and somewhat depressed river towns. Towns like Ripley, Ironton and Portsmouth. The views were fantastic and I had plenty of time to enjoy them since I had no cell reception for most of the trip.
Then I took I-64 east through Huntington, Hurricane, Charleston and Lewisburg and caught I-81 over on the Virginia side. The total trip took about and hour longer than usual but it was well worth the exploration factor since I have never taken that route from Cincinnati before.
The thought occurred to me that it would be really cool to live on a big river. Watching the barges slowly creep up and down carrying mountains of coal. It makes me want to build a raft and float to New Orleans....well maybe not build a raft....renting a boat is probably more practical. Anyway, back home for a few days then probably back to Cincinnati next week.
